Lovely new buttons arrived in the post recently from Liz at The Button Bower. I don't know how she does it, but she manages to continually source the most gorgeous selections.
Being such a beautiful day here today, I headed out into the garden to take a few more photos. I'm not really a fan of agapanthus once they have flowered, but I do like the look of the ready to burst buds.
Not sure what this little guy below is called, its a grassy little tussock and the flowers bloom along a spike.
The fig tree might be barren this year, thanks to the boys and their climbing, but the pear is heaving. Pear recipes anyone?

I am with you on the agapanthus.
I don't know why but I absolutely adore bouganvillea.
I quite like agapanthus - in a mass planting. I wish I had more productive fruit trees. I have a lemon but it doesn't lemon very well, which is a waste.
ekkkk! i couldnt seperate them either, lucky girl:)
Glad you like the buttons, Stacey!
The 'little guy' you can't ID is a Stylidium, commonly known as a triggerplant. Big coincidence because this is the plant I'm doing my PhD on - extracting DNA from its roots to find out which fungi it associates with, and also taking a closer look at all those little hairs covering the flower spike - they are similar to hairs on carnivorous plants and can be used to digest insects. If you tickle the middle of the flower, it will do a mini catapult-like thingy (whacks a bee with a load of pollen) hence the common name. OK enough science for one day...
Mmmm pears....great summer recipe - Rocket, Pear & Parmesan Salad

Apple teacake for dinner last night. Yum ;)
Oh - and I just read Kiki's comment .. not sure if she got that recipe off me, or vice-versa, or coincidence .. but I made that one fro Xmas last year, and IMO, it was a waste of good pear. Others seemed to like it but.
I also didn't like a similar pumpkin-based salad I made either. I like my pumpkins hot n roasted thanks, or souped. Not cold and saladish. No.
Lovely buttons!
I was just about to start on about trigger plants but see someone (much more knowledgable) beat me to it. Your lucky - I think they're hard to grow in garden situations - the Tassie ones are anyway.
Gorgeous buttons! I think the pinky reddy ones are definitely my fave.
I only just discovered Liz and her amazing button business recently and don't know that I'll be able to buy buttons anywhere else now. She really does source divne buttons!!! And she also knows one hellovalot about trigger plants :D I bet your out in the garden tickling the middle of the flower....I would be :P
A bit of pear and apple in a crumble always does it for me.
Eeek! Sorry 'bout my earlier spiel; I can be a bit of a geek sometimes!!
